Jeff Bezos Vowed $2 billion for Nature Restoration

Bezos, the founder of Amazon, promised to invest $2 billion in restoring nature and transforming the food system.

The money will come from the Bezos Earth Fund, and it’s part of his promise to spend $10 billion fighting climate change by the end of the decade.

According to , Bezos made the promise at COP26 in Glasgow and said that 2021 is a critical year.

“Nature is beautiful but it is also fragile,â€ Bezos told delegates at the COP26 climate conference on Tuesday. “I was reminded of this in July when I went into space with Blue Origin. I was told seeing the earth from space changes the lens through which you view the world, but I was not prepared for just how much that would be true.â€

Bezos also talked about how much CO2 forests and landscapes absorb and how people reverse this process when they destroy nature.

Earlier this year, the Bezos Earth Fund also pledged $1 billion in grants that focus on conservation efforts.

That amounts to $3 billion in pledges, which Bezos hopes will be a threefold nature agenda that will focus on conservation, food transformation, and restoration.
